Workshop on creative writing
TEZU, Nov 3: The two-
Attending the workshop as special resource person Sanjay Taram, C O Roing discussed different dimensions of creative writing and prescribed remedies to overcome various hindrances in it. Other resource persons, Nongja Singhpho, Mikta Mansai and Doirangsi Kri suggested many tips to be considered while composing different genres of literature like drama, poetry and short story. Dr. G S Jha (HoD English), Dr. V.S Mishra (HoD, Hindi), Dr. M D Singh, Dr. M S Sharma also spoke on the occasion.
On the second day apart from two technical sessions, the students and teachers read their own writings. Coordinator of the workshop Razzeko Dele exhorted the students to express themselves through writing and to venture into creative writing in Information Technology sector. Earlier in his inaugral addess Dr. B K Nath called upon the students to imbibe the habit of writing for bright furure.

Relief sought for fire victims
ITANAGAR, Dec 3: Expressing deep shock over the tragic fire mishap that occurred at Tato Circle under Mechukha subdivision in West Siang district on December 1 last wherein a mother and her 2 and half year old child was charred, the All Libo Bokar Ramo Students’ Union (ALBRSU) has made a fervent appeal to the state government, local MLA of area and district administration to provide immediate fire relief to the victims. The Union also requested the Central ABK and public of Mechukha to extend every possible help to the victims.
Meanwhile, the Union deeply mourned the untimely demise of former Chief Minister Jarbom Gamlin and prayed to the almighty god for eternal peace to his departed soul.

Arunachal bid final goodbye to former CM Jarbom Gamlin as his mortal remains laid to rest
AALO, Dec 3: Thousands of mourners thronged the Yeggo residence of former Chief Minister Late Jarbom Gamlin to witness the last rite and pay homage to their beloved leader today. The former Chief Minister Gamlin died on Sunday evening at a hospital in Gurgaon after a brief illness. He was given state honour at the funeral and 21 gun salutes by state police echoed through the Aalo town.
As soon as the mortal remains of Gamlin was brought to ITBP Helipad thousands of people took out procession with candles and shouting slogans from the Air Field to his birth place. All government offices, commercial establishments remained closed and the day was declared as state holiday as a mark of respect to the departed leader.
A host of dignitaries including Meghalaya Health Minister A L Hek, State Health Minister Kaliko Pul, PWD Minister Gojen Gadi, Arunachal Pradesh Congress Committee President Padi Richo, Leader of opposition Tamiyo Taga, MLAs Likha Saaya, Tage Taki, Jomde Kena, Pasang Sona, former Ministers and MLAs Tako Dabi, Takar Marde, Atum Welly, Lokam Tassar, senior state Govt officers, public leaders, Panchayat leaders, West Siang Deputy Commissioner Pige Ligu, Brigadier 5 Mountain Brigade, Commandant ITBP and IRBN, SP Mari Riba, AAPSU members, relatives and kits and kin of the departed leader attended the last rite.
Recalling the life and political career of Late Jarbom Gamlin, his elder brother and Aalo East MLA Jarkar Gamlin hailed him as a born leader who worked constantly for the downtrodden.
Late Gamlin was a good sportsman and former President of AAPSU. Beginning his profession as a lawyer, he offered free service to the poor clients. He started his political career as Member of Parliament and thereafter handled the mantle of state politics as Power and Home Minister and rose to the highest post of Chief Minister.
Jarkar Gamlin also expressed sincere thanks to one and all, who stood by the Gamlin family in the hours of grief. DIPRO
Condolences pour in
ITANAGAR, Dec 03: Condolences are still pouring in from all over the state to mourn the death of former Chief Minister Jarbom Gamlin who breathed his last on Sunday evening.
Education Minister Tapang Taloh today mourned the untimely demise of former Chief Minister Jarbom Gamlin. In a condolence message, Taloh said, “I am shocked to learn about the sad and untimely demise of Jarbom Gamlin”. His sudden demise is a great loss for our state and void created is difficult to fill in, the minister said. Recalling his contribution as chief minister, he further said that Late Gamlin initiated lot of bold steps for administrative reforms to bring radical change.
Tamiyo Taga, leader of opposition, Arunachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly also expressed deep shock on the untimely death of former Chief Minister Jarbom Gamlin. The death of Gamlin is a great loss to Arunachal Pradesh, Taga said in his condolence message.
Condolenc message also poured in from Sainik School Goalpara where Late Gamlin was the School Captain in his school days.

Likabali police arrest self-
ITANAGAR, Dec 3: Likabali police have arrested one Duyum Taipodia, the self styled deputy commandant of National Liberation Council of Taniland (NLCT) from his native Kamcham village early this morning. Police also recovered two number of 7.65 MM pistol along with two live cartridges, one unknown live cartridge and one mobile hand set from the possession of said NLCT cadre.
As per the information shared by Likabali police, under the close supervision of SP West Siang Mari Riba, a joint operation team was constituted comprising of Likabali police and 2/3 FID/3 CISU of military intelligence on 1st December upon receiving a concrete input from military intelligence that Duyum Taipodia was camping in a bamboo hut at Jhum kheti near Kamcham village. Accordingly thorough recce of the area was conducted and detailed strategy made to materialize the CASO (Cordon and search operation). After lot of planning on 2nd December, the joint operation team led by Dr. DW Thongon, SDPO Likabali along with SI Damgen Dulom, OC PS Likabali, SI Lod Chada, PC 2nd AAPBn, ASI Pawan Kumar, PC 5th IRBn, Mr. Tryambakeshwar (14641046 L) of 2/3 FID/3 CISU from military intelligence and police personnel of 5th IRBn, 2nd AAPBn and Civil Police of Likabali conducted the cordon and search operation from 0300 hrs to 0630 hrs at Kamcham village.
The team initially cordoned off a bamboo hut in the Jhum kheti and raided the hut at 0430 hrs. However he was not found there. Immediately switching to second plan, the team cordoned off Taipodia’s house at Kamcham village at 0445 hrs and raided/ searched the house. Upon thorough search, Duyum Taipodia was found hiding inside the straws of harvested paddy. Accordingly he was apprehended and later arrested.
The 23 year old Duyum who is a resident of Kamcham village under Likabali circle was involved in a kidnapping for ransom case vide LKP PS Case No. 6/11 U/S 448/364(A)/34 IPC R/W section 27 (1) (2) Arms act and was absconding since 2011. From February to April 2013, he underwent arms training under NSCN (IM) at Nagaland. On August 2014 complaints were received at Likabali PS that Self styled NLCT cadres are involved in extortion cases within the Likabali township. Accordingly two cases of extortion were registered vide LKB PS Case No. 14/14 U/S 384/506/34 IPC and 15/14 U/S 387/34 IPC R/W section 25 (1) (B) Arms Act. The Superintendent of Police, West Siang District Mari Riba, has congratulated the Likabali Police for arrest of Duyum Taipodia at Kamcham village.
Governor urges agencies to accelerate road construction process
ITANAGAR, Dec 3: The Governor of Arunachal Pradesh Lt Gen (Retd) Nirbhay Sharma today called upon the road construction agencies to accelerate the construction process in the state.
Addressing the representatives of State Public Works Department, Border Road Organisation and Ministry of Road Transport & Highway at Raj Bhawan here, the Governor said that roads in Arunachal Pradesh are of national importance. It is the duty of every one to facilitate in the construction of these roads.
Underscoring the importance of roads in development and progress of the Frontier State, the Governor emphasised in addressing the impediments in its implementation at the earliest.
The Governor advised for better coordination amongst the District Administration, Border Roads Organisation and State Public Works Department for expediting the project work. He also advised for regular meetings.
The Governor furtehr suggested for entrepreneurship among the local people in supply of raw materials for construction of road. He said that if they are involved in the construction process, the stake of local people will increase in the project. He also emphasised on capacity building of local people.
The Governor asked to three agencies to make a working plan for road construction in the next five years and chart their programme accordingly.

Tawang to be developed as mega tourist destination
NEW DELHI, Dec 3: The Union Ministry of Tourism and Culture has started process to develop Tawang as a mega tourist destination. This was disclosed by the Union Minister of State for Tourism & Cultural Affairs (Ind. Charge) Dr. Mahesh Sharma when Arunachal Pradesh Tourism, UD and Art & Culture Minister Pema Khandu called on the former at New Delhi today.

A year after the country saw the beautiful ‘Áji Lhamu’ dance of the Monpa tribe at the same venue, Arunachal Pradesh is ready to showcase its rich culture and tradition with yet another tribal dance – this time of the Idu Mishmis.
Igus are priests in Idu Mishmis, who are considered sacred and powerful within the tribe. Igu Dance or Priest Dance is a traditional dance of the Idu Mishmi tribe of Arunachal Pradesh that is performed to appease the spirits. The Igus perform these ritualistic pujas on several occasions for the wellbeing of the family and the community. A purely male dance, females are not allowed in it.
The selection of the tableaux for the Republic day parade is a rigorous process, which involves various stages of elimination. An expert committee is appointed to choose the tableaux amongst all the states and to suggest various modifications and changes to the selected states.
These suggestions are concerned with the music, the model and the overall theme itself.

NEW DELHI, Dec 3: The Director General of Software Technology Parks of India (STPI) Dr. Omkar Rai called on Chief Minister Nabam Tuki at New Delhi today and expressed interest of his organization to set up a Software Technology Park facility in the state.
STPI is an autonomous organization under the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, Government of India and is a leading player in the field of IT and IT Enabled Services working towards developing Single Window Systems for Software/Hardware development, Data Communications and Incubation Spaces for Startup IT companies.
Tuki expressed the vision of his Government to develop the IT sector in the state and mentioned that the same should be intricately linked to employment generation, avenues for IT Entrepreneurship in both Hardware and Software, among others. The Director General informed that the STPI has been instrumental in shaping the IT Revolution in India since its inception in 1989 and created lakhs of jobs over the years.
STPIs across the country are synonymous with excellent Infrastructure and Statutory support aimed at furthering growth of Information Technology in the country, Dr. Omkar said. He assured the Chief Minister that an STPI facility in the state would enhance the scope for the youth to realize their full potential not only in terms of employment but also in starting new business ventures on their own.
The STPI facility would also result in an environment conducive for leading IT and BPO companies of international repute to set up their establishments in the state thereby creating employment and also bringing investment to the state.
The Chief Minister agreed to provide all necessary support for establishment of the Software Technology Park and invited the Director General to Itanagar to complete the modalities for the same so that the Park could be established at the earliest. The Director General and key officials of STPI will visit the state in the second week of December. The development comes in the backdrop of the CMs continued impetus on creating job opportunities for one lac youth of the state by 2017. It may be mentioned that the CM’s Skill Development Programme was awarded India’s Best Project – 2014 by leading international research agency Skoch last month. Secretary Planning Sonam Chombay was also present during the meeting and shared his perspective on the Government’s plans to promote the IT scenario in the state.
Birth centenary celebration of Eknath Ranade
ITANAGAR, Dec 3: The birth centenary celebration of Eknath Ranade which would be known as Mananeeya Janma Shati Parva was formally inaugurated at VKV Nirjuli yesterday with the theme ‘One Life One mission.’
The centenary celebration is named as Mananeeya Eknathji Janma Shati Parva to mark the birth centenary of late Eknath Ranade, who is the founder of Vivekananda Kendra. He took up the activities of organization in Arunachal way back in 1972. The yearlong celebration started on 19th November and will continue up to 19th November 2015.
Speaking on the occasion Rinchin Dorjee, the Parva Pramukh of the celebration and former Chairman of APPSC gave a clarion call to make celebration a successful one by spreading the message of oneness and unity .
In his address Dr. Joram Begi, Prant Pramukh of Vivekananda Kendra and former Director of Higher and Technical Education said that Eknathji was the person who translated Swami Vivekananda’s vision into action especially in North – eastern part of the country. The state is fortunate that Eknathji chose Arunachal Pradesh to start his work. Now Vivekananda Kendra which had a modest beginning in 1977 with 7 Vidyalayas has increased to 34 in the whole state. Kendra has started Arun Jyothi for Rural development and Vivekananda Kendra Institute of Culture – Arunachal Chapter for promoting the dialogue to preserve and nurture culture.

Balakrishnan, Vice President of Vivekananda Kendra Kanyakumari, who is pioneer in the works of Vivekananda Kendra from 1972 onwards, illuminated the gathering about the vision of Eknathji for Arunachal Pradesh. Eknathji was very much fascinated to make this small hilly state as a model one and hence took up the first work in Arunachal after erecting a grand and befitting memorial of Swami Vivekananda at Kanyakumari.

Vivekananda Kendra has constituted committees at various levels to chalk out programmes for the yearlong celebration. Yuva Sammelan, Traditional Dance and Drama Competitions at Circle and District Level etc are some of the immediate activities planned.
Moyong visits polytechnic college
PASIGHAT, Dec 3: Pasighat is hub of education in the state and being the local MLA, safety for all the students of the state studying in Pasighat is my top priority, said local MLA Kaling Moyong while visiting Pasighat Polytechnic College here on Tuesday.
He called on the gathering to strive to develop brotherhood to create healthy atmosphere in the polytechnic college.
Talking about the diverse culture of the State, he said such kind of education center provides a common platform to promote unity, integrity, cultural and social activities besides educational values and added that every child has equal right to receive education and to live everywhere in the state with sound mind and health.
Expressing his dismay over the recent incident at Polytechnic College, the MLA condemned the incident and termed it as unfortunate. He said that misunderstanding and violence not only defame the area but also can ruin academic careers of many brilliant students. He assured that students’ genuine problems would be taken up with the authorities at the helm of affairs.
Deputy Commissioner Nidhi Srivastava said that the students have the power to shape the future of the nation and advised the students to maintain and promote unity and spread the message of oneness.
Further advising the students Srivastava said “You are here to make your aim success and transform your parent’s dreams into reality”. While highlighting some useful tips to achieve goal in life, she informed that the district administration has decided to felicitate toppers on important occasions.

This in response to the article published today in the reader’s forum column by one Tabir Tasingh of Tawang under the headline “Let us support development activities.” This article is totally biased and rumor created to give me bad name. I as Tabir Tasing, S/o late Taram Tasing of Sine village want to clarify to the general public of Siang district and in particular people of Boleng area that the said letter to editor has not been written by me. Someone has intentionally tried to defame my name in front of general public. I strongly condemn such act.
As my native village is Sine under Boleng subdivision and as a citizen of the Siang district I would like to place my opinion in front of public that as per the two committee report Boleng was found the most suitable location for the district headquarter based on feasibility. And there are total nine circles in the newly created Siang district, out of which seven circles are demanding that Boleng be made as the headquarter and only two circles namely Kebang and Pangin circles are in favour of Pangin. Therefore, I am personally and morally in support and in favour of Boleng as the Headquarter in the greater interest of general public of the Siang district.

Tough days ahead for NE states
