Clarification

Dear Editor,

This in response to the article published today in the reader’s forum column by one Tabir Tasingh of Tawang under the headline “Let us support development activities.”  This article is totally biased and rumor created to give me bad name. I as Tabir Tasing, S/o late Taram Tasing of Sine village want to clarify to the general public of Siang district and in particular people of Boleng area that the said letter to editor has not been written by me. Someone has intentionally tried to defame my name in front of general public. I strongly condemn such act.

As my native village is Sine under Boleng subdivision and as a citizen of the Siang district I would like to place my opinion in front of public that as per the two committee report Boleng was found the most suitable location for the district headquarter based on feasibility. And there are total nine circles in the newly created Siang district, out of which seven circles are demanding that Boleng be made as the headquarter and only two circles namely Kebang and Pangin circles are in favour of Pangin. Therefore, I am personally and morally in support and in favour of Boleng as the Headquarter in the greater interest of general public of the Siang district.

Yours,

Tabin Tasing,

Sine Village,

Boleng,

Tough days ahead for NE states

Finance minister Arun Jaitley have set the alarm bell ringing for states like Arunachal which totally depends on central government for funds. Ahead of next Union Budget, finance minister today hinted at a cut in grants from the Centre to states, saying the states will have to stand on their own by generating resources for development and other schemes.

Jaitely urged every state to start generating revenue of their own. He has laid down clear vision of how Modi government expects the states to make money of their own and carry out the developmental activities. However this move may back-fire if it is implemented at the earliest. Jaitely should understand that many state especially those from NE region for years have been dependent on central for fund owing to various reasons. Sudden cut down of central grants may deeply harm the developmental activities and many state governments will virtually crumble down. Union government should give time and also aide state governments to create income generating sources. The cut down of central grants in present scenario will have serious social and economic impact in the NE region.
